In dependency order
Nothing is used before it is taught. The data model comes before the trigger that fires on it, and the test comes before the deploy that needs it.
The platform's own language, taught in the order you actually need it: the data model first, then classes, then the deploy that puts it live.
What you'll learn
Salesforce is a platform before it is a product, and Apex is how you extend it. This course starts where every other one should: the data model, the security model, and what actually happens when a record is saved.
Every lesson has the same shape — a plain-English concept, one concrete example you build yourself, and a bridge to the next step.
How it is built
Nothing is used before it is taught. The data model comes before the trigger that fires on it, and the test comes before the deploy that needs it.
Create the object, load 200 records, watch the trigger fall over, fix it. Watching someone build a trigger is not the same as building one.
Every lesson names the Platform Developer I objective it covers, so studying here counts twice.

Writes the labs. Believes a lesson you cannot break in your own org is a lesson you have not learned.
We teach the thing that goes wrong at 200 records, because that is the thing nobody teaches and everybody hits.
Also from this pair
The labs are the difference. Watching someone build a trigger is not the same as building one, and this course knows it.
Passed PD1 six weeks later
Lesson 09 alone paid for it. I had been writing triggers for a year and had never once thought about the second data load.
Blunt, short lessons with no filler. I finished it in two weekends and shipped the deploy on the Monday.
No. Every lab runs in a free Developer Edition org, and lesson 01 walks you through creating one.
6h 20m of video, and roughly the same again in the labs. Most people finish in two to four weeks at an hour a day.
It covers about three quarters of the outline. The remaining quarter — Lightning components, integration — is the next course in the track.

Still deciding?
Two lessons are open with no account. Watch lesson 01, and if the pace is wrong you have lost eight minutes.
